How It Works in 2024-2025
Step One- Decide on YOUR community project
On August 4 th , 2024 we will conduct a GRCC Launceston Challenge Day, where 50-60 individuals, employers, employees and organisation members will be invited to set a vision for how the community can help make Launceston one of the great regional cities of the world.
We will be focussing on the concept of making Launceston a city where "people come first" especially in four ways:
People and place - how can we make this a city where people are connected, welcomed and recognised in a place which is accessible, appealing and inviting
Thriving economy - how can we make this a city where new businesses can get a start and where existing businesses can thrive
Welcoming Visitors - how can we make this a city where visitors are greeted, engaged and have memorable experiences
Diverse and inclusive - how can we make this a city where people of diverse backgrounds and origins are welcomed and where people with challenges are included and engaged
This won't be a talk fest but will have practical outcomes of Quick Wins and Great City Projects which GRCC can fund through our normal process.
The specific ideas that emerge from the GRCC Launceston Challenge Day will be promoted widely in August, 2024 on TV, The Examiner, on the radio and via social media and also listed on this website. Note: your project might fit several themes so mention which ones these are.
the funds needed - in no more than 100 words explain how the project will fix the problem or make use of the opportunity and explain specifically how much in funding you need in total and for each specific part of the project.
